The San Diego Athletic Club is delighted to announce a formal partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance. Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) is a national non-profit organization with the mission to transform the culture of youth sports so that sports can transform youth.

Sadly, statistics show that 70% of young athletes stop participating in sports by the time they are thirteen.  It is proven that when kids have fun in sports they try harder, perform better, stay involved, and WIN more; both on, and off the field, and...they come back to play!

 We recognize the importance of providing coaches and parents with the tools necessary to help our young athletes continue to experience the joy of rugby, find a pride in the Aztec Club culture,  teach life lessons through youth athletics, and of course, to win!

In addition to the Aztec leadership workshops, PCA courses and certification will be offered to board members, coaches, and parents over the next 3 years in a programmatic approach that emphasizes the importance that all parties play in defining and maintaining a culture that helps develop our young athletes.  It is our goal to have every coach a Double-Goal Coach®*, every parent a Second-Goal Parent®*, and every player a Triple-Impact Competitor®*.

Phil Jackson, Tony Dungy, John Wooden, Olympic Gold Medal winners, Collegiate Champions, and Fortune 500 companies not only support PCA, but they also actively endorse this program as the model for the future.

At the center of the PCA Model are:

  • The Double-Goal Coach®, who strives to win while also pursuing the more-important goal of life lessons through sports;

  • The Second-Goal Parent®, who concentrates on life lessons, while letting coaches and athletes focus on competing; and

  • The Triple-Impact Competitor®, who strives to impact sport on three levels by improving oneself, teammates and the game as a whole.
